Painting of a painting

I like the First Tulips painting but had some changes in mind as to color and composition. I'll likely try again, since this effort uncovered more areas to experiment with.

Landscape Abstract

Mostly concerned with shapes, values,and color interactions,and thinking mildly about a landscape. This was really fun to do!

Fence Line

Having some fun with color, blues and orange in the shaded white fence.

Color Sketching

painting from sketches and not using a model. Mostly just wanting to get some "painting momentum"

Something New

Trying something different:
1. Construct a landscape in my mind
(a collection of 3D forms)
2. Paint an image of that construction
(imagining how light and shadow describe the forms)
The idea of not having something to look at takes getting used to. It seems to take a lot more energy to get a little results.

First Tulips

I was able to keep the colors clean by putting them on with a pallet knife and moving them with a brush. Going back into a painting this way is a new technique for me.I got the idea looking at Jane Hunt's blog post This morning
